School Attendance

Working Together to Improve Attendance

There is a real national importance that children must attend school and that all absence is monitored, recorded and followed up if no viable reason is given or it is persistently impacting on a child's education and well-being.

At CWJS we will raise the profile of attendance in school by the following ways:
  • Mrs Wainwright is the nominated member of the Senior Leadership Team who has been given the role of the  'School's Attendance Champion' (SAC).
  • The SAC and Principal will analyse children's attendance data weekly, identifying any trends, persistent or late absences.
  • Meet with the Local Authority's designated Attendance Lead to discuss individual cases and put in place intervention to improve attendance.
  • Report to parents in newsletters the school's attendance data and areas to improve.
  • Meet with parents to discuss their child's attendance and put in place an action plan and targets to address needs of the family.
  • Report to governors and trustees the school's attendance % and any action taken to improve children's attendance.
